World Polio Day
Peace Pole Dedication at Warm Springs on World Polio Day

North Cobb Rotary partnered with the Rotary Club of Meriwether County to dedicate a peace pole at the Warm Springs Welcome Center on World Polio Day — a District 6900 celebration in the community where President Franklin D. Roosevelt sought healing after contracting polio, and which became a worldwide symbol of hope in the fight against the disease. The pole carries the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in four languages: English, Spanish, Muscogee (Creek) honoring the region’s Indigenous heritage, and Italian celebrating then-Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo’s historic visit to Warm Springs last Rotary year. In all, five clubs were represented at the dedication — North Cobb, Meriwether County, Peachtree City, Columbus, and Muscogee-Columbus — a powerful reminder that peace and polio eradication share the same foundation: cooperation across borders and a commitment to a better future. Rotary has helped reduce wild polio cases by more than 99.9% since 1985, and North Cobb is proud to stand with Rotarians everywhere until the job is done.
